Attention All US Citizens
Today is the day to pledge your commitment to positive change by voting Democratic all the way.
Raymond Ford
................................................................................
Attention All Londoners
I need your help. I can't do this without your help. I want very much to represent all of us at city hall but, I need your vote on October 25th, 2010, in order to make a difference. Even if you do not usually vote, I'm asking you personally to believe in me, as I believe in you. I also need you to spread the word to your family and friends to get them on board too. By voting for me you will not be throwing away your vote because, if we get enough support/votes, it will most definitly enourage mainstream politicians to adopt some of these ideas and proposals. In the end, it doesn't much matter who gets the credit for we all benefit. This is also my contribution to the world.
Together, "We The People" can and will make a difference!
Believe and we will make our dreams come true.
This is my promise to you.
Ray
My Election Results
Do you also realize that, from 15 mayoral candidates running, I finished in 8th position with 375 votes for the first time trying. To the best of my knowledge, all other mayoral candidates used traditional campaign methods...meaning a couple thousand dollars worth of signs and knocking door to door talking to the public etc. On the other hand, I conducted a scientific experiment. I only used my website and email address. So I ran a complete electronic campaign fully automated, costing me a $200 registration fee at city hall and $34 for computer needs bringing the total cost of my campaign to $234....interesting isn't it? Automated campaigns are our future.
A Message to the People of London, ON. & the World.

The Power of Creative Thinking Combined with Faith
First off, I want to say from the bottom of my heart...thank you so very much for your support. It's because of you, I decided to run for the Mayor's Office. I knew that, even though, I had great ideas for our city & the world, I was largely an unknown political figure. Nonetheless, I realized some time ago that, if I ran for office and created a website for all to see, read and copy or aspire to any and all ideas, strategies etc., I could influence the process and outcome of the municipal election, which in turn, will influence our political direction. That's exactly what happened. I am just now starting to receive letters of support from our business community, thanking me for running for mayor and bringing a level of competitiveness previously unknown in London, as well as, a whole lot to think about. It took a combined group effort from all the mayoral candidates to dethrone Mayor DeCicco-Best, which left Mr. Joe Fontana in a winning position...Congratulations Joe! This was my magic formula contributing to help bring about positive change to London. So as you can see, one person can make a difference. Imagine all of us together?....wow!....magic!
I still need your help to maintain a forward motion, to bring about positive change in London. The election may be over for the next 4 years but, our fight is on going. I need your letters of support! So please if you don't mind, send your letters of support directly to my email address... canadianray@hotmail.com and if you wish to contribute financially to this cause then, do not hesitate in contacting myself.
Once again, thank you.
Sincerely,
Raymond Ford

Time to Upgrade our Elections Process
I thought I'd share a concern I have about the present municipal elections system. At present, I feel there is not enough attention paid to the overall security of our elections. For example, look at my situation. Right in the process of a Canadian municipal election, my elections webpage link was deleted from the City of London's election website displaying the mayoral candidates, on voting day October 25th, 2010 and possibly changing the final result in this election. http://www.london.ca/d.aspx?s=/Elections/candidatelist_mayor.htm Or it leaves us all in a vulnerable position questioning the legitimacy of the election. At the same time, there's room for corruption because of certain not well thought-out decisions which could place us in a position where a re-election is necessary. Or even if anyone with access wasn't pleased with the direction of the election, could delete some detail about a rival candidate causing a disqualifying of the election results and a re-election called. I'm still in the dark as to what happened that day. I believe the time has come to implement certain standards so as to maintain status quo of the candidates details, such as website links etc. Especially on elections day which is imperative to maintaining free flow. What just happened to me in this election was the equivalent to placing a dam in the river, causing the ripple effect, which brings us to here. See my point? All we need is a simple straight forward standard in place to prevent any potential derailment or possible corruption of a fair election. What seems minor to you now has the potential of becoming a serious major problem drawing federal and international publicity.
I believe this cause is a worthy one and I also believe that, all Londoners will benefit by the upgrade to our elections. Although, I feel this standard should be right across the board provincially and federally, throughout Canada. I'm asking you to join in on this campaign of awareness to upgrade our elections process to create more secure, stable and fair municipal elections, right across Canada.

On another note, today is August 04, President Barack Obama's birthday. I understand the President is now 49 years young and still going strong. I believe, the American people and the people of the world, are very fortunate indeed, to have such a great leader, like President Barack Obama. http://barackobama-2012.blogspot.com/
Mr. President, I wish you the happiest birthday ever and also, please give my regards to the First Lady, your family and the American people.

Municipal Political Elections in London Are Unfair & Corrupt
It appears the media covering the elections are mainly interested in printing stories about the mayor and the most well known opposition. I'm sure many Londoners would like to know more about the other candidates and their plan of action. I believe limiting the media coverage, for the most part to just 2 candidates, is completely unfair & corrupt because, not only does this make politics in London boring but, the press is influencing the outcome of the elections. To be fair to all the candidates and the people of London, as well as, in the interest of fair democracy, we need to develope certain standards to be observed during all elections. If we had online elections & referendums in place right now, it would be the majority of Londoners influencing and deciding the political fate of London and not the media and or special interest groups.
Of course the present system of the Press, highlighting for the most part, Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best and Mr. Joe Fontana, no doubt the Press will steer this election and most definitely influence the vote. I can't help but wonder what purpose this present system serves? The only question which comes to mind is...Does it serve the special interest groups? Most definitely suspicious! We need to remember that most media companies are a business and part of a corporation and can have their own agenda. I do not believe the municipal elections in London are fair for they do not directly serve the needs of the majority.
The needs of the many far outweigh the needs of the one or the few.

Special News Bulletin
The unfairness and corruption just gets worse.
I recently discovered that, the City of London Elections Office, has removed my website address on the city elections page displaying the official mayoral candidates and while the elections were still on. So far I have been told it was due to some complaints as to the content. Below is a copy of my inquiry todate.
October 26, 2010 Time: 13:10 hundred hours
City of London Elections Office
Manager
,
Hi Sarah Axford,
As to our conversation, I need to know how many complaints you received and specifically what were the complaints about? Also who's final decision was it to remove my website address from the election page displaying the mayoral candidates? http://www.london.ca/d.aspx?s=/Elections/candidatelist_mayor.htm
And I need to know when was it removed? And one of the most important questions is, why was I not notified? And if you tell me it was late in the day, then my next question will be...Why was I not notified today or given an opportunity to discuss the matter as to find a suitable compromise or solution? My lawyer and I need to know?
Thank you.
Raymond Ford
Part 2
Dear Ms. Sarah Axford,
To be fair during the election, I should have been contacted immediately upon receiving any complaints about any content on my campaign elections page. At that point, we would have had an opportunity to discuss the issues and perhaps we could have compromised and or found a solution to the satisfactory of all concerned. So instead, my website link to my entire campaign page was deleted off the city's election page and kept secret and yet, there wasn't a complaint about the entire web page, only certain contents.. I only ran an electronic campaign without signs on the street. Not only has the elections office hindered my ability to encourage more votes for myself on October 25 and the future but, my integrity, reputation honour and overall defamation of character have been severely compromised. Considering the seriousness of the situation, I believe the Mayor should be notified of this dilemma. I also suggest a meeting be arranged to settle this matter of damages to myself, amicably if possible.
I await your answers to my first questions and I look forward to resolving this concern.
Sincerely,
Raymond Ford

Update: September 14, 2010
It appears the compitition has accessed my email contact list and sent out many emails to my contacts trying to promote and sell internet businesses by pretending to be me. The emails were so frequently sent as to cause people to block me. There's no doubt that the intruders are trying to discredit my reputation and credibility. I have scanned my computer and found the intruders and deleted them and changed my password. I can only hope this has been successful. For the record, I'm not involved in any internet business.

The information on this website is designed to stretch your thinking and encourage you to think creatively outside the box and promote an awareness previously unknown by the masses. Some say that the changes I am proposing, are futuristic but, I believe the future is already here!...which suggests, some of us, may still be living in the past. I care enough about people and our world, to openly propose changes to our government, for all to see. By placing all this information on the internet, no doubt, it will have an influence on our political direction. This is my true objective, for this is my contribution to the world. Regardless what they think of me, they can't stop progress. I hope you enjoy reading it because I enjoyed researching it, writing it and sharing it.

More Freezes
If elected mayor, I will not only lower and put a freeze on property taxes but, I will also put a freeze on city hall salary employee's wages, which will include elected officials, as well as, put a freeze on hiring of nonessentual staff. I would also streamline all departments, creating a far more efficient and less labour intensive system, through automation.

Let's Kick Start London's Economy
An Economic Stimulus Action Temporarily Relaxing Regulations & Stimulating the Economy
It's small business which makes up most of the jobs in the country. A system which is used more in Europe and the United States, is temporarily relaxing the usual regulations, criteria, standards, requirements, licenses/permits etc... for example, for the first 2 years for new business startups. So the first 2 years can consist of step by step integration for new businesses. This makes the intial start up cost affordable, until the new business gets on their feet, with a cash flow. This works very well in attracting and encouraging new business, creating new jobs and lowering the jobless rate, stimulating the economy, by removing the dam from the river to create free flow. There is so much we can do together to stimulate the economy and lower the operating cost of city hall.
If elected Mayor, I promise to put this plan into action immediately.
Raymond Ford @ your service!

Together We Can Build A Better Tomorrow
Have you ever noticed that most elected politicians have a professional website? And on their website you'll find information about how easy it is for the general public to meet them. You will even find words like... my door is always open... or if you have any good ideas, contact us to make an appointment to discuss your ideas. That sounds real nice, doesn't it? Although, have you ever tried to actually follow through with making contact with your elected representatives? It's not so easy. Is a matter of fact, it has been very challenging. In my own experience, it would appear most politicians do not want to deal with anything controversial. This is typical of most elected politicians around the world for unfortunately, many just don't want to know.
The need for online elections and referendums on all levels of government, is not only paramount to the successful evolution of our democratic and political systems but, also equally paramount to our own development, as individuals, as well as a society. I do understand that change is difficult at the best of times but, I also recognize, change is needed. We are in a recession and in my opinion, what's required is out of the box creative thinking. This doesn't mean we should just concentrate on getting out of a recession but also, investigate all the causes which lead to this recession. Also, what changes are needed to improve our systems, to avoid further up & down yo-yo economies. Have a read below and you decide what's possible and what's needed. All I know is...together, we can build a much better world, for all of us and future generations yet to come. I believe, our children and our children's children, will one day read about us in the history books and no doubt, they'll be grateful for our efforts today, to try and make the world a better place. I know this to be true for when I look back and see all the effort people made in the past, to making our world today a better place, I'm grateful. Ask yourself how you want to be remembered? Just as I thought! See you on voting Day.
I sincerely thank you for your support.

Under construction and evolving.
Blue sky out of the box thinking.
My support is growing daily. I have visitors to my website from all over the world. I have received messages from people who thanked me for the information from my site, which they have used in their university classes. Soon I'll be much stronger but till then, I'm utilizing this slow time to research and prepare for my next step.
I have been asked by many to run for Mayor, in the next up coming municipal election. I am still considering their proposal although, it's looking like I may have little choice.

London is Among the Cities With the Highest Property Taxes in Canada
http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/1517
http://ontariofairpropertytaxes.com/
According to the Edmonton Report of 2008, London ranked among the highest cities in Canada, being 5th highest just behind Hamilton for property taxes. Of course Toronto ranked the highest property taxes in the country. The first thing I would do as Mayor, is place a ceiling on London's property taxes, so that property taxes could not be raised for many years! I would look into creating a City Wide Lotto, to help pay the bills. But the most important thing I would introduce to London is...."REFERENDUMS" also known as a Plebiscite or a Ballot Question. In the US, it's known as a Ballot Proposition or Measure, so that the people of London will determine the agenda, for the year ahead or any other issues or concern which need to be addressed, in order to evolve to the next step. This is a form of Direct Democracy. Exciting isn't it? I would push to establish computerized voting for elections and referendums. These 3 links are quite interesting reading... http://www.ordinary-gentlemen.com/2009/12/online-voting-the-john-grisham-novel-of-civic-responsibility/

http://elections.ca/content.asp?section=loi&document=municip&dir=res/ivote/comp&lang=e&textonly=falseote/comp&lang=e&textonly=false
Property Taxes and the Economy
It would appear, there most definitely is a relationship, between high property taxes and inflation, right here in London. For example, buy a pack of cigarettes, in any of the variety stores uptown on Dundas Street, between Adelaide and Rideout Streets and you'll discover a price difference, of up to $1.50 per - pack. Even though the buildings are old and some run down, their property taxes are too high and their prices for their products can be considerably higher than other stores. Running any business/city/government, requires efficiency and an open mind to explore any potentially fruitful avenues. Try and convert your vehicle, from gasoline to dual fuel, for example, gasoline and propane. In London, the cost ranges from $4,500 to $5,000 +. Outside of London, you can find the same dual fuel conversion for under $2,500.
Or, if you're in the market for a new or used car, you'll get a much better price, outside of London. Even the used Ford Crown Victorias, ex - cop cars, which are commonly used as taxis, will be bought outside of London, where they are $1,000. to $2,000. cheaper. Look at the price of gasoline per - litre as of today... Canada Day... $104.9+... And as soon as you drive outside of London, you'll find gasoline being sold for up to .10 cents per litre cheaper! Why? Because outside our city, property taxes drop big time. Our property taxes are so high, that we are not competitive in business, compared to other cities and communities. We're losing a lot of business because, many people fuel up their cars and do their shopping outside of London. This situation is serious and needs to be addressed. I believe, we need to lower the property taxes, in the City of London, not just put a freeze on taxes. Because of today's economy, in my opinion, property taxes in our city, are way too high and this is choking our economy. The higher property taxes, will make our economic recovery slower, than other cities and we'll also be slow to attract new business.. The Edmonton Report of 2008, suggested that, Mayors who overspend and can't balance the budget, will raise taxes, to financially cover themselves. I realize this is a controversial topic, which supports the need for direct democracy and much discussion.
I Refer to Proposition 13, 1978, State of California...
http://www.caltax.org/research/prop13/prop13.htm
We Need to Take Preventative Action
In order to avoid future similar property tax hikes, in our city and other cities across Canada, I believe we need the same thing that happened in the US to happen in Canada, plus a whole lot more. We can't allow municipalities to continuously raise taxes because, they overspend and can not balance the budget... Not to mention giving themselves good pay raises, every time they raise taxes. I believe, the Federal Government and the 10 Provinces and our 3 Territories, need to step in and take charge of the situation, by implementing new legislation, directing and regulating municipal taxes. Since the raising of municipal property taxes throughout the country, can effect inflation and weakening the dollar, as well as, influencing the stock market, which can also effect our overall economy, then this would warrant all levels of government being involved. I believe, this type of thinking is required, to safeguard our precious economy. Once again, this situation is a clear indication of the need for direct democracy. This issue of property taxes is far too important to our economy, to allow it to remain on just a municipal level.
Much more food for thought.

Environment Transportation Committee (ETC) Unified Central Taxi Dispatching & Conclusion Pending.
Conclusion of my actions. I was granted Delegation Status, at the Environment Transportation Committee, ETC, City Hall, London, ON. The first time was March 02, 2009 and the second time on August 24, 2009, to talk about Unified Central Taxi Dispatching and the much needed improvements, within the taxi industry. Just 4 days later, on August, 28th, 09, I received a call from the owner of my taxi plate, informing me that, my contract to continue leasing the taxi plate after October, 2009, was to be cancelled, which would make me jobless. Of course I found work as a driver at less than half of my usual income. I have reported this to the City Clerks Office, City Hall, as well as the Mayor and I was assured it would be looked into. That was late August, 2009. I am still waiting for the City of London to get back to me with the conclusion of my complaint, as well as, the conclusion of my meeting with the ETC. I realize it was referred for consideration but, what is the City's position today? Do have a read about my ETC Presentation. The link below... marked central taxi dispatch, will direct you to the right page.

Corruption is Everywhere
The City of London has turned a blind eye to illegal taxi plate leasing, from 1970 to 2010... 40 years! You will find the link below interesting.

Transportation 24/7 Transit/Bus Service in London
I would establish 24/7 transit/bus service, with bus conductors at night, trained in customer service and security. I would also work with other neighbouring communities, such as St.Thomas, Port Stanley, Woodstock and many more cities and towns, including the Province of Ontario, to help establish city transit/bus service between all of us from and to these places to create linked communities.
In my opinion, what we need is 24/7 transit/bus service. At present, when someone vomits on the bus, another bus is dispatched out and the customers/passengers are delayed, disrupting the schedule of both customers and bus route. In the past, bus conductors were used to sell tickets, collect the bus tickets and money, as well as, make change. The conductor also had their own work station, with necessities/tools, cleaning chemicals, sprays etc., on hand, to deal with most potentially disruptive situations. Today we have the technology in portable size vacuum cleaners to add to the list of necessities that, are a must in the conductors station. For example, the conductor would be responsible for keeping a watchful eye on the passengers and dispensing vomit bags and maintain order, if need be. So because the conductor is solely responsible for the passengers comforts and needs, the driver can solely concentrate on maintaining a timely efficient service. In my opinion, this upgrade would build customer confidence, encourage rider growth and address a safety issue, by helping to relieve the bar rush taxi/limo shortages, especially on the weekends.
This type of action with 24/7 transit/buse service and conductors, will not only be much more effient and encourage greater ridership but, it's also "free flow".
Linked Communities Through Unified Transit/Bus Service
By having unified transit/bus service, we can potentially increase London's population, by linking our communities in South-Western Ontario. Imagine for a moment being able to travel from London to any other surrounding city or town. For example, St. Thomas, Port Stanley, Thamsford, Thorndale, Dorchester on the Thames, Ingersoll, Woodstock, St. Mary's, Stratford, Lucan, Exeter, Grand Bend, Delaware, Strathroy, Mount Brydges, Simco, West Lorne and many more places, by London's Unified Transit Service, which is similar to the Greater Toronto Horseshoe. By creating Greater London Linked Communities, through unified linked transit/bus service, we would create a much greater accessibility for families, employment, industry, shopping and real-estate. This action would promote and stimulate the economy. Europe has had this type of service for many decades. I believe, we as residents of Greater London, and all the surrounding communities, would benefit enormously by creating unparalleled opportunities and economic growth.
Another free flow idea to improve quality of life and to add to the economic stimulus package.
Once again, simplicity @ it's best.
Sincerely,
Raymond Ford

Freeze Or Unfreeze?
One of the biggest questions I would put to the People of London is, do we unfreeze the freeze on taxi plates, which was established in 1970 and was supposed to be temporary and has obviously created a monopoly? Many places have lifted the freeze on taxi, limo and hackney licenses. Lifting the freeze, is the equivalent to removing the dam from the river to create free flow. These links below are very useful...

Unbelievable
Wow...$140,000. for a frozen taxi plate. The freeze on city hall issued taxi plates which, the city charges $500 for, when issued and this 40 year old supposedly temporary bylaw, creates this monopoly.
The classified ad, suspposedly appeared in the Saturday Addition of the London Free Press Classifieds but, I haven't been able to access it. I suspect it has since been hidden from public view.
Proof....conformation that, taxi plates in London, Ontario, Canada, are being advertised for a monopoly amount of $140,000.

Hackney Cab Service
Throughtout Europe, you'll find a variety of transportation services. Of course you will find the usual taxi and limousine services but, there is one more service to be found, which is not common in North America, hackney cab service. Hackney vehicles are usually found to be any colour and resemling ordinary private cars that, charge flat rates and usually cost half of what regular taxis cost. Hackneys are regulated in the same way taxis/limos but, without the freeze, on the city issued hackney licence plates. The ever growing transportation cost demands we look at alternative transportation methods. Hackneys may yet prove to be an effective part of our transportation solutions. I believe we should promote this idea, in the interest of the public. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackney_carriage#History
.................................................................................................
Roundabouts/Free Flow
There are not enough roundabouts in London. Roundabouts are very efficient in creating a steady traffic flow. For example, if you are the only car at an intersection and it's 3 AM, why should your time be wasted sitting there, burning fuel and polluting the atmasphere? Europe solved this problem a long time ago by investing in roundabouts. Roundabouts are much safer than traffic lights and cheaper to operate for they don't use electricity... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundabout ... http://www.newurbannews.com/Roundabout%20safety.html I would like to see many of our intersections transformed from traffic lights to roundabouts.
.........................................................................................
Over/Under Passes/Bridges... Via Rail, CN, & CPR & all Train Crossings
I would like to see continuous progress in this direction, of more over/under passes/bridges, avoiding traffic delays. We need to see more efficiency and link more street arteries together, throughout the city. By linking more major street arteries together, we improve the efficiency, which is the equivalent to removing the dam from the river to create, "free flow" . Linking the streets, reduces many left turns and right turns in general, throughout the city, which in turn reduces the traffic congestion at major street intersections. I would also like to see some expressways in London. I believe we need to prepare our city not just for the present, but also, for the inevitable future population growth.

A Promise
As Mayor, I would also promote Unified Central Taxi Dispatching, so during the special events and major transportation demands, we will be in a position of strength, operating at close to 100% efficiency and clearing the streets and backlog of people and calls waiting, in half the time. Using the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS), the closest vehicle would be dispatched, regardless which taxi/limo company was called. We will be capable of handling any situation, as well as, be a pilot program for the rest of the world. We have the technology ,where at the flick of a switch, when needed, we would come under a Unified Central Taxi Dispatching, to create a far greater efficiency in the interest of the public. And when all is cleaned up, after the action, we flick the switch back and all is, as it was before, separate individual companies. This action will lower the crime rate, since most of the calls to 911, come in Friday & Saturday night, between the hours of 2:00 AM & 3:30 AM to 4:00 AM. Pluss with a Central Dispatch System in place, only one taxi/limo will be dispatched to an address, regardless how many other companies have been called. At present, there are times during the mad bar rushes, where half the the taxis/limos on all the fleets, are chasing ghosts, because of the multi calling to all the different companies and leaving with the first dispatched vehicle to arrive, without cancelling the rest still on the way, while real live people are needlessly waiting on our streets, helpless and vulnerable.

In regards to contract negotiations between the City of London and it's Unions, I will work very hard to establish Automation of Contract Negotiations, to contribute to a Free Flow Market Place and Economy. These 3 links below are very informative...

Casual Labour
Regarding casual labour, I would bring back the old local work projects, so people can be hired for the day and paid cash in the hand. http://www.westerngazette.ca/2010/04/05/london%e2%80%99s-rich-poor-gap-among-largest-in-canada/

2 Term Limit
If elected Mayor, I would promote the creation of a New City Hall Standard, so that any future elected Mayors or councillors etc., can only serve 2 terms. I believe it is important to have fresh blood every couple of terms to ensure new ideas and minimize potential corruption.
................................................................................
Bring the Country to the City
In regards to keeping chickens for fresh freerange eggs, I will change the existing bylaw, allowing up to 1/2 a dozen hens - 6 chickens per family. Depending on the size of the family, as well as the location etc., all circumstances, should be considered and the city should be more sensitive to individual needs and special applications submitted. I believe separating humans from certain animals in the cities, in my opinion, is not the correct way forward. I believe reality and necessity require us to learn to be more efficient and productive with our land, space and time, by bringing the country to the city. This type of thinking is the closest system to nature. So the answer must be "education". Just like we regulate taxis and taxi drivers by issuing licenses, based on knowledge, courses and tests etc. We need to issue licenses to people who wish to breed and keep domestic animals in the city. This empowers the city, by being able to inspect and maintain standards, as well as create a new form of revenue and create jobs. The basic care and knowledge of the usual diseases and preventions, needs to be part of the licence. Also, I will upgrade any and all bylaws regulating the keeping of domestic pigeons and birds such as, Racing Homers and all show breeds, as well as, other caged birds, cats and dogs. Lets bring the country back to the City of London.
.........................................................................................
A Discovery... Now if you really want to solve the ever growing bird problem, then it's quite simple really. Over the years, the bird feeders have multiplied by millions throughout the cities around the world. Certain birds usually migrate when it becomes too difficult to find food because of cold weather. Now that the sales of bird feeders is a huge business globally, many birds are no longer migrating but in stead, they reside in the cities
because of the free all you can eat buffet for birds...

Both males and females Tufted Titmouse are very similar in appearance. On the right we have a photo of a male American Goldfinch, on left, which is very distinguishable from the greenish brown female Goldfinch on right.
Many different breeds of birds can be found in our cities. The 3 main breed of birds which live year round in our cities are, wild pigeons, officially known as Rock Doves, English Sparrows and Starlings. These 3 breeds are not native to North America but, European imports, brought over by the early settlers. All 3 breeds are non migratory birds so are not protected by law.
Alarming Evidence
I am seeing more dead birds on the side of the road, than ever before. I have examined many bodies to discover the birds death was most likely caused by being struck by a vehicle, for they all had broken or crushed bones. This would explain why more buzzards are constantly hovering around the cities.
Because of man's interference/bird-feeders etc., too many of the young birds are surviving, where as before, it was strictly survival of the fittest. Because of all this free food in all our cities, even the genetically inferior specimens are surviving in this new artificial environment. Unfortunately, these inferior genes are being introduced into the gene pool, corrupting millions of years of evolution and eventually threatening the very future existence of our birds. This process is called devolution, which in biology means... degeneration. As the bird population continues to grow, it will cause overcrowding and stress, which will contribute to the lowering of the birds immune system. Also, the corrupted genes will produce a weaker bird, lowering their immune system and making them more susceptible to diseases and eventually a threat to man. The present system of feeding the wild birds in our cities, contradicts the laws of nature. We need to learn to respect the laws of nature and develop systems which run with nature. It is my belief, this type of thinking, is required for the human race to survive with a future, as a species on this planet. I believe it is imperative we take action immediately, to help preserve the healthy existence of our future bird population and avert a potential catastrophe, not just to the birds but, also to the ecology and eventually to man.
http://www.birds-of-north-america.net/extinct-birds-of-north-america.html
Birds of Prey
As a result of an exploding bird population, taking up residence in our cities, birds of prey, such as falcons, hawks and eagles, have also moved into the cities because, the smaller birds are their food source. Now the birds of prey are living on the rooftops of our high-rise apartment buildings. These birds of prey have been known to attack small children, dogs and cats. There are reports on the internet confirming this... http://www.digtriad.com/news/local/article.aspx?storyid=42748 . The growing bird population in our cities is a serious problem. Having an over population of birds in the cities, creates a potential health hazard, by the spreading of disease, not just within the birds but, also within human society. The obvious solution is to ban the feeding of wild birds in the cities, which will cause the birds to migrate elsewhere...and the birds of prey will always follow their food source...just like following the buffalo. The banning of bird feeders is extreme no doubt but, unfortunately and in my opinion, it's a necessary next step forward and paramount to the successful resolution of the situation. The removal of bird feeders in the cities, is the equivalent to removing the dam from the river to create free flow. Wild birds are meant to flow freely in the wilderness. Without the free food, there won't be a need to hang around the cities and the birds will resort to migration once again and expanding their travels far and wide throughout the country side, as before.
Timing
Any action regarding the banning of feeding wild birds in the cities, needs to be implemented after the breeding season, in the fall, so as to run with nature. A shortage of food at this point, combind with the colder temperatures and shorter days, should encourage the need to migrate. As far as any local none migratory bird population is concerned, nature over time, will lower their over population to a sustainable level, by resorting to survival of the fittest and restoring their gene pool.
Another Controverial Topic
So once again, we have another controversial topic, which seriously needs to be addressed. I can go on forever with examples of why we need to progress, with our democratic and political systems. We really do need direct democracy, in the form of online elections and referendums. If our political leaders continue to ignor the real issues, then in my opinion, we need to seriously consider all the options. We need to ask ourselves, do we really want more of the same mainstream politicians? Or is it time to vote responsibly? Isn't that the real question? More food for thought.
Questions?
Has anyone ever had any real instructions as to what factors to consider about a candidate running for election? I'll bet not!..lol. Some people have voted for a candidate because, he's a good talker or she's smart or he's cute etc. Really! The time has come to look a little deeper and ask some questions. For example, what do they stand for? Are they mainstream? Or are they different? Do they have good ideas? Do they want change? Are they courageous enough to stand up for what they believe in? Do they have solutions to our growing problems?
Why Do So Many Eligible Voters Not Vote?
The days of supporting a particular party or candidate because of tradition or family ties are gone with the wind. We need to know who's for the people and who's good for the environment. Someone who's not afraid to stand up for justice and change. We need someone who will make a real difference. Too many elegible voters just don't vote because, it's a trust issue. They have lost complete confidence in our political system. Why? It's obvious. All around the world and since the beginning of time, we have had corrupted politicians, who have abused their position. Time and time again, people voted because of promises of change and nothing much happens. It's no wonder so many of us don't vote.
A Must
Repairing voter's confidence or increasing voter turnout, should be top priority on all levels of government. I would like to bring your attention to the opinion and attitude of some of our eligible voters... http://popthestack.wordpress.com/2009/09/24/why-canadians-dont-vote/
A Necessary Step
The time has come to hold our politicians responsable and accountable for their actions and performance. We need to ask, have they fulfilled their Oath of Office? Have they done the best job possible? Too many have not. The need to vote intelligently, is paramount to society's successful evolution. Believe and we will accomplish the so called impossible. That's a promise.
This is my conclusion of the bird discovery.

Song Title: In The Year 2525, Song Artists: Zager And Evens. This Song reached Number 1 in July, 1969, for 6 weeks, on the Billboard Hot 100, in the U.S...wow! Keep in mind, Neil Armstrong on Apollo 11, landed on the Moon, July 20th, 1969, at 10:56 p.m. EDT. Which I'm sure did a lot to promote this song to remain number 1 for 6 weeks, in the USA. My Vision of the Future for the 21st Century
If you don't mind, I would like to share with you, a brief view of my vision of the future. At the moment, we have 3 main trading blocks. We have the Pacific Rim Countries, the European Union and the North American Free Trade. It's obvious, which way we're headed. Since we have evolved as a collective, we need to continue on this "natural path" and merge together in business, to create a "Global Market Place, Free Flow". In the future, I see all the countries, being members of the United States of Earth, with a Global President and most definitely, "Free Trade". Just like if one is a citizen, of one of the 27 Member States, of the European Union then, one is a citizen of the European Union and is able to legally live and work, in all 27 Member States, permanently. I see the same thing eventually happening here, in North America. And in time, around the world, I believe, all 3 trading blocks, will merge to become one....in the interest of efficiency, productivity, and especially necessity.
I have no doubts in my mind that, Social Capitalism is the way forward. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_capitalism
Free Flow
The river is distinguished from the other bodies of water, by it's shape and movement. When the river is dammed, at that point, the flooding changes the properties of the river and the river ceases to be a river, for as long as the free flow is obstructed. The exact same principal applies to the economy. It's just common sense. A lack of free flow translated into the economy means, when there are too many labour disputes, there will be a lack of trade, which will break the stride of the economy, forcing a stock market reaction, which in turn breeds fear and can lead to a recession. The free flow system will generate hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars extra each year, on a Global scale, through efficiency and increased productivity. The extra money in the hands of The People, will no doubt create purchasing power like never before. Of course the extra cash in the hands of the people, through spending and growth, will continuously be pumped back into the economy and ensure Free Flow, just like the river, respecting the laws of nature. And the side effect of Free Flow, brought about by, Automation of Contract Negotiations, incorporated into the contracts, is one of the most important points. People will no longer lose their jobs or businesses and homes, because of someone else's strike or lockout. Considering the overall cost, from hundreds of billions, to possibly trillions of dollars, to the taxpayers and economy, for all these strikes and lockouts, we really can't afford not to look at other alternatives. The potential of the Free Flow Economic System, demands our immediate attention! Do read this story... http://raymondford.webs.com/theonlywayforward.htm

A Challenging Future
The future will be very challenging, with an exploding population and will be all about competing for our depleting natural resources. There will be 2 types of countries, one's that have and ones that have not. And the countries that have, may feel a need to put up a fence, to keep out the have nots. The future will be all about advanced technology, outside the box creative thinking, efficient organization/administration, high tech security, a necessity... global cooperation, free trade/free flow, sustainable economies, population & pollution controls, the environment, new clean fuel/energy, space research, Moon/Mars colonies and more than ever, education. It wont be easy but, eventually, we will need to get much more serious about our long term planning for the future. Because of the improvements in technology and identification of our citizens, etc., I can eventually see a more relaxed border crossing, encouraging more freedom and new industries. The future can be a wonderful world, if we plan for it!
To my American Brothers & Sisters, Happy Birthday, 4th of July, Independence Day!

An Open Street Market...Economically A Healthier Choice
I would like very much to see an open street market right uptown, with many venders and stalls selling fresh meats, fruits, vegetables, live animals and any and all products. In regards to the licensed selling of street meat such as hot dogs etc. I would upgrade the bylaw requiring the street venders to make available,100% whole wheat buns, upon request. I would also encourage other food outlets to offer the public a healthier choice. When you buy a hot dog at the 7/11, they ask you if you prefer a white or whole wheat bun. I think that's very cool!
An Obvious Solution... Free Market/Free Flow
Using the simple method of cause & effect or for every action there is a reaction, it's obvious that these street venders, due to their financial advantage of not having to pay the high property taxes, are in a position to offer their products at a considerable discount. In my opinion, this competitive action would start a chain reaction of lowering food prices and prices in general, which in turn, would stimulate the economy, as well as, help to lower the inflation rate in our city and also help deter people from shopping outside London. Having a major open street market in the city centre, would bring people from many miles around to come shopping here in London, stimulating our economy and encouraging developement uptown.
No doubt, another idea to add to the economic stimulus package.
Simplicity at it's best!

Electric and Natural Heating Methods...Financial Independents
I would also encourage more heating and electric independence. People should be encouraged to create their own electricity and invest in more independent and natural heating methods, solar, wind etc. I would implement a complete open and transparent government, like never before. I believe the time has come to take our city into the 21st century and lead by example, by showing the world just how it's done.
Volunteers...The Cavalry
I would like to see a great deal of more volunteers used, throughout the City of London and especially in helping to police our city. I believe every man, woman and child, should be able to walk down any street in our city, at any time, day or night, with reasonable safety. This is why I would create a new volunteer service, to man our streets, working directly with our London Police Force. http://www.uwo.ca/footpatrol/
......................................................................................
Child Day Care/Crèche
We need more accessible day care for our financially challenged families and families in general. Imagine for a moment, if the city actually invested in and organised day care services throughout the communities of London, on a much larger scale. Volunteers could be used to create and manage along with some permanent staff, accessible day care. This would free many financially struggling parents to re-enter the job market. A lot of day cares are unaffordable or too far away or they have lengthy waiting list. The bottom line is...creating more accessible day care, all over the city, would give parents an opportunity to work and also an opportunity for the city to lower the jobless rate. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Creche
Shopping Mall Crèches
All of the shopping malls in Europe, have Creches. It is typical of parents to check their kids in to a shopping mall creche, while they continue shopping stress free. The creches are very advanced, with well trained staff and complete facilities, to deal with all ages of children. Security is excellent. A small fee is charged by the hour and they are always full. The children just love them...fun and games, as opposed to being dragged along boring shopping expeditions. It's most definitely a win/win situation for both parents and children. I believe these ideas are worth pursuing for they improve quality of life. Every shopping mall in London should have one. http://www.mallcribbs.com/children.php
http://www.gyleshopping.co.uk/gyle-creche-facilities.html
Crèches Could Prove to be an Effective Piece of the Puzzle....Part of the Stimulus Package
Shopping mall Creches are also helpful in getting families out of the house to enjoy a social shopping expedition, which could not happen otherwise, due to a lack of instant child care facilities. Creches in shopping malls actually help to stimulate the mall business, as well as, the general economy. Many parents will even use the shopping mall creches while they venture away from the malls to do other things, chores or meet a friend for lunch uptown etc. The bottom line is...Creches in shopping malls is the equivalent to removing the dam from the river to create, "free flow".
I believe this idea would make an excellent addition to the economic stimulus package.
If elected Mayor, I promise to push for much more accessible day care, right in your community, as well as, I'd also push for all shopping malls to have creches.
Simplicity @ it's best.

New Industry...Organic City Gardens
There is far too much good farm land disappearing all over the world and all in the name of "progress". I believe the time has come to start using our land and space in a much more productive and efficient way. I would encourage organic green houses all over our city. For example: in people's backyard, on roof tops of businesses etc. I would encourage the retired people to get involved in the Green House Project. This could be a whole new industry to invest in. The Americans have already started this project.

The True Nature Foods 'Rooftop Victory Garden' for localized agricultural production was begun as Phase I in 2006. This project received a 'City of Chicago Green Roof Grants Program 2005: Residential and Small Commercial Buildings' grant from the Department on the Environment toward realization of the vegetated roof, and has become a 'poster project' of sorts for the grant program. Species planted in fall 2006 include buckwheat, burdock, comfrey, Jerusalem artichoke, and artichoke, which were selected for their ability to provide food, fuel, fibre, encourage human health, and help build healthy soil. Species planted in 2007 include herbs such as mints, rosemary, oregano, tomatoes, potatoes, beans, and squash.
Bravo!

Time to Grow
I believe our North American Democracy needs to evolve. In my opinion, it appears that the main reason why we are not progressing fast enough, is because there are far too many controversial topics and until they are dealt with, there will be a lack of forward progress. These issues seriously need to be addressed, but unfortunately, our politicians have become afraid to address these controversial issues, in fear of not appearing politically friendly or correct. Sticking to mainstream politics which is the least resistance and being re-elected, seems to be top priority and not what's in the public's best interest. By having more referendums, we can ask the people to help decide the best course of action forward. Referendums/plebiscites are rare in Canada as you will find out by clicking the link below. Also there are 2 other links below pertaining to direct democracy, in the US and Ireland/Europe
http://www.elections.ca/loi/com2000/Statistics/sta03_e.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_direct_democracy_in_the_United_States
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_European_Constitution_referendum
This form of direct democracy gets the ball rolling and also encourages a greater voter turnout and a much greater political involvement by our citizens, who otherwise would not be interested. Direct Democracy of course is more common in Europe. The fact that this style of democracy gets the ball rolling in as far as confronting controversial issues, is actually the equivalent to removing the dam from the river to create Free Flow. European Democracy has been quite fashionable for some time. We could definitely take a few pages out of their book. I do believe this is our next step forward, in our political and democratic evolution. http://www.basiclaw.net/Principles/Direct%20democracy.htm
This is why I believe computerizing our elections and referendums to create online voting, is the most competitive, efficient and productive way forward, as well as paramount to the successful evolution of our political and democratic system. London Deputy Mayor Tom Gosnell, supports looking more closely at internet elections as shown on these two links below.

http://www.westerngazette.ca/2010/03/10/city-council-considering-online-voting/
The fact that online banking has been a total success, is absolute proof that online voting will be just as successful. I believe direct democracy in time, will spread to all levels of government around the world, for it is a necessary next step, in order to define our understanding of the issues, to gain strategic and political wisdom & direction, plus so much more. Another interesting link...http://www.democracy-international.org/

An Observation in the US, Which Supports the Need for Direct Democracy
Recently the world watched President Barack Obama fight for change for the American People. The process of change in America recently, took years and many exhausting speeches, campaigns and thousands of hours of hard work, by the President and all the supporters. Thank God they succeeded. Imagine for a moment if you will, that we had a regular referendum system in place, fully computerized and fully accessible from the comforts of our home or office. The entire agenda of what President Obama fought so hard and long for, Health Care etc., which could have been presented and voted on by the nation, in a very small fraction of the time and money. President Obama and the American people, have successfully demonstrated recently, the need to progress forward with direct democracy. Because of the efficiency, saving months and years in time and money, we can be much more efficient and productive, accomplishing a whole lot more. This would create the most effective, efficient and productive government ever known to man...and we have the know how and technology to make this happen now. Real food for thought!
Communication
Just the other day, I received a communication from the Democratic Party, in the United States and apparently the Republicans are organizing an opposition against President Barack Obama's version of reform in America. This is most unfortunate for this will definitely slow the wheels of progress. The United States would benefit at this moment, if they had an online elections and referendum political system in place. Direct Democracy online, would empower the President Elect by establishing the greatest voter turnout and support in American history, as well as, clearing the political minefield, by addressing all the controversial topics electronically, which have hindered real progress for long enough.
